Before the Internet, listening to music was a much more limited experience. Music fans would have to rely on the radio, music stores, and their parents' record collections for the latest tunes. Going to concerts was the only way to experience live music, and it was much harder to find and connect with like-minded music fans. Sharing music was limited to passing around cassettes and CDs, and discovering music was a much slower process. The Internet changed all that, allowing for instant access to almost any type of music imaginable and providing an unprecedented level of connection among music fans.
