Aarti was directed by Phani Majumdar in the year 1962.

The movie stars Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari ,Pradeep Kumar in lead roles. Other star cast includes Shashikala, Peace Kanwal, Gajanan Jagirdar, Surekha, Niranjan Sharma, Keshto Mukherjee, C.S. Dubey, Rajendra Nath, Mehmood, Sarosh Irani. The movie is a romantic love story with the father of girl as the love killer villain.Movie starts with Aarti (Meena Kumari) who lives a wealthy lifestyle. She is a doctor by profession and always believes that her skills should be used for the welfare of patients only. Also she is of the age of marriage and is engaged with Dr. Prakash (Ashok Kumar) who believes opposite to her. Later one day Aarti gets fall in a water body from where she is rescued by a handsome man named Deepak (Pradeep Kumar). Later she comes to know that he is an educated and unemployed youth. Later both of them fall in love with each other. But when her father comes to know about their affair, he opposes this and tells her not to have any relationship with Deepak.And thus the story goes like a love tale. Movie is good and enjoyable. It was popular among teens.


Music is very good. It is given by  Roshan. Songs are sung in beautiful voices of Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi.
