Deepika Padukone was born in Denmark on 5 January, 1986. She was born in a upper middle class family. Her father Prakash Padukone was a international badminton player who has gained wide recognition as a sports star and her mother Ujjala was a travelling agent. Her family shifted to Bangalore when Deepika was a year old. She then did her schooling from Sophia High School Bangalore.

Deepika Padukone did her graduation from Mount Carmel College and then enrolled in the course of Sociology from Indira Gandhi National Open University. But she left her study in the middle to concentrate on her modelling career. As a child she was totally into badminton and workouts. She did her workouts in the morning and played badminton in evening. When she was in class 10th she decided to be a model.

Deepika Padukone started her modelling career by advertising for the Liril soap commercials. She participated in Lakme Fashion Week under the guidance of Suneet Verma and won the title “Model Of The Year” at Kingfisher Fashion Awards. Deepika made her debut in the Indian film Industry with Kannada film Aishwarya (2006) that was directed by Indrajit Lankesh. She worked with the star Upendra in the romantic comedy movie.
